Employers are obliged by law to grant their employees rest periods. This is stipulated in Germany under § 4 Working Time Law (ArbZG). The new Synapcus Time Recording module’s “Break Management” feature allows employees and their supervisors to observe and monitor the statutory working break rules. The system signals the working times where no breaks have been made / registered.
The duration of the break is precisely defined and is 30 minutes with a working time of more than six hours, and 45 minutes with a working time of more than nine hours per day.
According to law, the working breaks must be fixed in advance. However, it is sufficient for a certain period of time to be established, usually by taking them – this is normally the usual working time. It is not possible to make no working break and therefore to leave earlier.
